Mrs. Ida May Proffitt, 98, of 308 Russell Ave., died Friday morning in Ben Hur Nursing Home here. She lived at Crawfordsville for 65 years and was a member of the Wesleyan United Methodist Church. Mrs. Proffitt was born Dec. 11, 1877, to Samuel and Elizabeth White Mitchell in Johnson County. She was educated in the Johnson County schools. She first married Allen H. Craig and later married Joseph Proffitt. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hildred Carver of Rt. 2, Crawfordsville, and two grandchildren, Charlotte Carver of Rt. 2, Crawfordsville and David Carver of Thousand Oaks, Calif. Both husbands, a son and two daughters are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Powers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Isgrigg will officiate.
